wing mirror mod

So my left wing mirror vibrates a bit when travelling at high speed so I thought I would do the wing mirror mod.

Looks nice and easy. I've read the instructions and I have tried removing the mirror no matter how far I push or lever the mirror away from the door it does not pop out.

The mirror flexes enough out that I can see behind it and it appears that when I move the front mirror the backing plate moves as well!

Any ideas?

have you tried a screwdriver bet the outside edge of the mirror and the housing? should come out easily enough. gently pull the screwdiver towards the car + it should pop out

Yes I have the manual and have tried exactly that ... it does not want to come out at all.

I can push it so far that the other edge of the mirror hits the wing mirror frame so it cannot physically move any further, but still it does not budge.

you need to prise the (plastic be careful!) tabs over that hold the glass on to the adjuster plate behind, its one of those jobs thats easy when you have done it a couple of times but a right bh for the first time!
