Interesting to see some of Alonso's behavior over the past couple of races.
1) When asked in singapore if he still felt last year's win was legitimate despite Renault not contesting the cheating allegations, he said "yes, absolutely"
2) When iterviewed today he claimed to have backed of for the yellows during the Q2 incident. Clearly not true.
3) When passing Coultard and co on his way to the grid, saying "this weekend is not important"
This suggests to me :
1) He's happy to benefit from cheating.
2) He's completely comfortable lying.
3) He doesn't give a stuff about anyone (including his own team), except himself. I wonder if the rest of the Renault team considered this weekend unimportant ?

He was fairly relaxed before the race for sure, but he was still motivated enough to finish ahead of superior cars in the race(which I'm sure his team appreciate)

Not sure where you got this from. The charge was not lifting "sufficiently" under yellows.Alonso seemed to lift in the video footage. His problem was that:
1. He passed Buemi under yellows.
2. He didn't lift enough.
Button and Barrichello didn't lift at all, according to Ross Brawn.

Alonso didnt need to know about it (and it is a moot point) - key members of the team cheated to gain him an advantage. He would not have been able to win ,all other things being equal, without their assistance. Pitting first wasn't the key - the safety car was.
