Information on Magenta Kit Car
Discussion
I had a Pilgrim Bulldog (similar idea to the Magenta, if a little prettier) back in the day with a 1275 Marina engine - A series, single carb. Because the body was so light it was fast 0-40, but ran out of puff pretty quickly.
Pretty cold to drive in the winter, but I don't recall it being horribly noisy, but then I was 17, so...
There's been one mentioned in the last couple of Practical Performance Cars - one of the staff writers has one with an Alfa V6 in it IIRC. Think it has a habit of expiring.
Have you looked at Marlin Roadsters? Docevi1 on here had one, Marina running gear, a lot nicer looking IMHO.
Or how about a Scrotum/Quantum?

Errr, this Magenta kit car?

Sorry O/P, I know everyone has their own taste, but why in the wide wide world of sport, would you want to drive around in that? It has all the design flare of a car made by a 6 year old out of lego.
There are so many other more aesthetically pleasing, or practical, or sporty kits than that.
ETA - There is a Kit-Car sub-forum so maybe cross post or ask a mod to move the thread.

Well my first ever car was a Magenta just like the one posted above. Black with black interior but this WAS in 1979
I loved it in the summer, was a 1300 from memory, and felt quick enough at the time. Must admit didn't appreciate it in the winter though, don't remember the roof being too effective
Sorry can't be more helpful but it was 30 years ago

Sorry, don't know anything else about it other than they were based on old Austin 1100s.
To be honest if you can get past the eye-stabbingly fugly looks, I dare say you can put up with the undoubtedly feeble performance and non-existent refinement!
Why be so hard on them.To be honest if you can get past the eye-stabbingly fugly looks, I dare say you can put up with the undoubtedly feeble performance and non-existent refinement!

Ok its not pretty but at least its different and more interesting than a 1.2 Corsa.
It's also lightweight and has the potential to go as well as a classic Mini Cooper.
Right thats it! i like it and thats that ! also it is very cheap and not to mention
it competed in the 1977 london to sydney rally and as far as im aware the first kit car!
and as ive previously stated im am after people who have owned one or similar yes there are prettier
kit cars but i like its quirkey styleling and the fact that its different!
