The camera is a cannon md101, mounted on a home made mount. The sound is achieved by covering up the mic with electrical tape. We only use the most high tech stuff!

I've been round the ring in my e36 m3 in 8.31. I am convinced the MNR (2003 R1) will go round quicker but I havent had enough time to get used to the handling and the higher corner speeds you can carry yet. Gear selection is also tricky due to the relative lack of torque from the bike engine.
I will hopefully get to practice some more next year.

Cheers. Ive done around 70 laps now but still have alot to learn. Ive been told how bad I am in my thread in the track day section!
The m3 (not sure if csl) was well driven. With some more practice in the mnr, I reckon I could give him a run for his money thoughsmile

We never really got a full flying lap that weekend, thats why I spliced the two laps together in the video. That theoretical lap was 8.36 BTG.

out of interest, what diff and wheel/tyre sizes are you running? how did you find the ultimate gearing ?

The diff is a 3.38 sierra. Rear tyres are 205/50/15.

Ive seen 120mph(gps)on a flat road. Down the steep section of Fuchsrohre/ adenauer forst, I saw 125mph (maybe 130, cant quite remember) on the limiter.

There was some frantic gear changing going around the lap!
A lower ratio diff could be usefull at the ring with this engine but thats just a guess.

At a track like cadwell park, the gearing is bang on.

Teabag you did indeed get grilled in the track day section. Well done for giving as much you took. Its strange how they say about the driving style when your not racing. You never said it was the perfect lap or anything. This is the problem with typing and not talking. Not enough tone so things sound rude when there not. I would be scared of posting on that section now. I would be proud of that vid. Ignore racing drivers. You have to be very competative and self centered to be one. Thats the only reason I was not one (maybe also becasue I didnt have the break, or cant drive as fast!).

At least the liked the camera view

There are a few on there who are highly critical of my vids, yet dont have any nurburgring footage of their own to show us how good they are themselves.

We had the MNR down at Cadwell Park yesterday. I captured a tape and half of the track action (including a great tussle with a gsxr1000 powered MK).

I need to go through the footage and see whats there. I am not sure the racers in the trackday section would like it.

All I've got to say is I've seen an R1 engined Vortex in a hurry on the track here in Oz and it is a weapon.

Lotus 211 and a hot Exige both handed their arses on a plate and by some margin.

I have read your thread on the accident. I was wiped out for you. weeping

On a GSXR1000 note, tonight, we have had a can session while reviewing the trackday footage. There are a few good laps on the tape involving the MK GSXR1000.
Ill load a couple of vids onto uptube and post the links in here.driving

That's a fantastic bit of footage, the sound is awesome, where is the camera mounted? it looks like its almost at ground level, which gives the whole footage an almost roller coaster ride quality!

Thanks for the comments. The camera is mount inside the nose, right at the bottom, prob 4 inches from the ground. The electrical tape keeps alot of the wind noise out along with the shape of the nose itself. I was impressed with the vid when I watched it back over a pint of bit burger at the zurburg hotel in nurburg. drink
