Ultima's for tall people?
Discussion
I'm currently running a Ferrari 550 Maranello which is a sensational car, but not one i am seriously going to take on the track and push hard. The majority of my driving will be on public roads, where i will take in a combination of commuting and 'enthusiastic' trips up my favourite back roads.
I am coming round to thinking that maybe an Ultima might be an excellent compromise, but before i get my hopes up, I'm wondering whether i'm going to get into one - I'm 6'5" tall...
If I chopped my 550 in today, it's worth around £45k - what kind of quality Ultima would I get for that?
Finally, are they really that good (and will the wife s**t briks if i tell her we are going to be commuting up and down the motorway an hour at a timt to see friends?)
Thanks all

You're not too tall, but you will want one with a lowered floor to fit in comfortably. I sold my old porker for the same reasons as you're considering and I've had some cracking times on track this year. I would think that for £45k you should get a pretty good car. If you want, I'll take you for a spin and you can have a look round mine - I'm not far from you in Nottingham. You'll find out how good they really are! Andy
I'm 6'5" and built an Ultima a few years back. I had the lowered floorpan and was just about OK in it on the road but my experience on track was that the additional headroom required for the helmet meant I had to slide down a bit in the seat compromising my leg position too much to be able to drive it comfortably. You need to find one to sit in and take a helmet with you.
You have to try one, it's no good accepting anecdotal evidence on this issue. The reason being that some tall people's height is in their legs and some in their backs. It can make a huge difference.
I'm quite tall, and would be very surprised if I could even get in an Ultima let alone be comfortable in it. Same goes for many other kit cars (my job gives me plenty of opportunities to try different kits). The moral of the story is, try it for yourself
