Not sure I'd agree on Trailfinders
- seriously though I find better deals online or through Flight Centre normally but I'm not always their target market.
I'd also put the following on the list:
www.seat61.com - everything you ever need to know about train travel. For example someone I know was looking at London to Istanbul and it gave 3 detailed routes all with exact timetables and even details of the food onboard
www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree - the best forum for advice and answers to almost any question you'll ever think of. Someone on there has usually done the random thing you are considering
