What to do in Suffolk
Discussion
I'm whisking the missus away for a few days in Suffolk, Hadleigh to be precise.
We've not been to the area before so I'm trying to figure out what to do/where to visit while we're there.
We're only there for 2 nights so want to make the most of the time
Felixstowe is about a half hour away by the looks of it, is that worth a visit?
Any suggestions from some regional PH'ers?

I wouldn't really bother with Felixstowe unless you like big ships, big cranes and lorries.
You could drop down the A12 to the Dedham Vale(Constable country) and Stour valley. The villages close to Hadleigh include; Dedham, Flatford, Stratford St Mary, Nayland, all of which are lovely, with some great pubs and restaurants , or head to Hintlesham Hall for lunch or dinner.
Hadleigh also has 'Buyright' a large store where you can stock up on all the crap you never knew existed, for next to nothing!

Much of Suffolk is lovely. If you like coastal and riverside walks and pretty scenery then you're in the right county. Walk from Wolverstone Marina on the river Orwell to the Butt and Oyster pub for a pint or three of Adnams, Felixtowe Ferry - not the container terminal, the old bit - the rivers Orwell and Deben are all very boaty and a bit too yellow welly in the season with several nice but bloody expensive riverside pubs, the Stour and the Ore and Alde are much quiter. The whole of the coast is a designated AONB and deservedly so. Walks on the river Stour, round Dedham (Sun pub worth a visit) and Constable country are good. Woodbridge is pretty, the Seal pub on the outskirts is good but often packed.
A drive through the lanes and tiny villages away from the towns and A12 is like stepping back in time.
Orford Ness is a spooky remnant of 1950 MOD testing and worth a visit. Orford, Aldeburgh, Thorpeness Dunwich (better fish and chips in the black shed on the beach then Aldeburgh IMO) Southwold and Walberswick are all worth a stop and look round. Inland, Bury St Edmunds and Framlingham are pretty towns, there's Thetford forest and the south part of the Norfolk broards. More PHy stuff is Bressingham steam museum and an aircraft museum in the north of the county - can't remember where. If history is your thing then the Anglo Saxon village recreation at West Stow, Grimes Graves (I know that's in Norfolk PH Pedants) and Sutton Hoo are worth a look.
I love Suffolk. I'd move there tomorrow if the Wifebeast
agreed, but have to content myself by driving or sailing there whenever I can - It's the best antidote to Essex Chav-ness and general arsey behaviour you'll get in the south east

Hadleigh is only a few miles from Kersey, which is lovely, even though it sounds like the council have removed the ducks from the ford at the bottom of the village as people complained about the poo (FFS!). The other place in Suffolk I'd say is a must is Lavenham, with even more old tudor houses than Kersey. Without knowing what floats your boat, Long Melford is also nice especially if you like antiques.
Edit: There is also a large bird sanctuary next to Sizewell power station if birds / country walks are your thing too.

What do you/she like to do on weekends away (oooer, but you know what I mean). We've not been to the area before so I'm trying to figure out what to do/where to visit while we're there.
Why did you choose Hadleigh? There must have been something which drew you there.

Aldeburgh for the best fish and chips.
But they don't let young kids in to the chippie! (we got them in as it was wayyyy out of season). My dad is in Suffolk, and frankly we struggle for things to do, it's a little quiet down there!
Some like it quiet, others like it raucous, Suffolk is predominantly a quiet place, anyway kids should be seen and not heard

Framlingham castle is worth a look. If you can find it there is a great resturant at Wycken Vineyard and a very nice shop for browsing. (Near Ixworth)
Their is a good boat trip from Orwell down the river, which is good.
White Swan at Lavenham for afternoon tea is very civilised (but not exactly the most racy experience)
Hethel is fairly close too ......
