Checked my oil the other day and need some more! What weight of Mobil one should I put into the Griffith 500?

Use the search tool and you'll find lots of debates on this subject, but you'll have to top up with whatever was used at the last service, or change the lot.

5W50 is called up in the handbook, but you won't find it available except perhaps from dealers (who'll probably give you 0W40 and tell you it's 5W50).

The engines use oil quite quickly so check it regularly.

I use the 4T/Motorsport stuff, I don't reckon the thinner grades suit the engine.

Why do you say this? Obvoiously I don't mix synthetic with non-syth' but why not top up with what you have available? R...

I use Mobil 1 15w/50 motorsport oil. Halfords have started stocking it again.

I'm not entirely convinced about using 0w viscosity in the RV8, esp. since mine hardly has high oil pressure - a thicker oil should provide more protection against low pressure / cold starts / etc.

Then again I'm no engineer. Mine seems perfectly happy with the 15w/50 though.

I use 20/50 & it stops nasty spots on the garage floor etc.
