-Need a frame painted - recommendations please

Hi all,
Well, managed to buy a 96 Klein Attitude on ebay for £175 at the weekend and i am well chuffed,especially as it has XTR rear mech and XT front, XT shifters and levers etc. Stripped it all down at the weekend to clean it properly and throw various cack bits in the bin and suddenly realised that now would be a great time to get it repainted.
it is currently orangey red, i think they call it sunburst?
Anyway, i have a few ideas, but who does bike painting, do they paint it or powdercoat it? Has anyone got any recommendations and does anyone know what sort of money i should expect to pay?

I've not used them myself, but have heard very good reviews of Argos Finishes in Bristol. A decent spray may cost just as much as your frame though...
anohter recommendation for argos.a friend had his santa cruz chameleon painted there and the finish is stunning. they will do any colour you choose, wording, personalisation etc... they are well worth a call
just read a bit about them now on the net... a few people do point out that obviously riding the bike off road could cause paint to chip quite easily

cool, im in Bucks but am prepared to send anywhere really.
my mother in law is an accountant at a local firm which does powdercoating.
Obviously this means this could be a cost effective option, but obviously they dont usually do bikes and i dont want my klein frame getting knackered somehow!

just checked the windridge website, they are specialist powder coaters - i think they are going to get my business as they sound like they know what they are doing.
I know that if i get a paint finish then it will be just my luck that the largest tool in my garage will fall off the wall and attack my fresh Klein in a matter of hours!!!!

If you want it powder coating a local firm will probably do it for about £50, just take it all to bits and make sure all they have to do is blast it and coat it... after masking all the threads up too!
Make sure they mask the threads up!!! PC'ing is a pretty cheap way of getting an awesome finish to be honest.
My cannondale is about to become candy red or green over a silver base with some airbrushed decals, but I'm doing it myself.

your right, omni kote powder coated a rocker cover for my rally car and it still looks great...but need to mask all threads etc
just tempted to use windridge as they mask all threads for you and grit blast which is kinder to a frame etc...
I'd certainly suggest heading over to retrobike.co.uk and asking the question there. Part of a Klein's value is in its unique paint job and I'm pretty sure there is a guy on there that specialises in recreating the factory paint jobs.
Also, some of those parts that you may think of throwing out, may well be of value to some of the others on retrobike, so you may get a few quid towards the paint job.
btw - 175 notes for the bike sounds like a great buy!! you could easily part the whole bike out and make at least double that back I would think.

This is an 1993 Attitude in Sunburst, which is yellow / orange / pink.
Sorry its a camara phone pic, it does not do the paint job justice. Somewhere I have a Klein brochure that shows all the factory paint jobs that were available before the Evil Trek takeover. If I can lay my hands on it i'll scan it and post it up for you.
