Hi I have a E36 316 1.9 M43tu compact and the car idles when the engine is turned on when it is warm and after about 10 mins of driving it stops doing it. It also runs rich on cold start ups. On cold start-up's it also seems to be missfiring . The engine light has come on a few times and I have changed the breather valve and air-mass meter. The diagnostics is saying mixture to lean. I have now been told that the light is on due to the lambda sensors. I have checked all the air pipes for cracks/leakes. has anyone had the same problem or knows what the problem could be? Thanks

I had a very similar problem with a 320i and it was solved by a new lambda sensor.

When was it last changed? They usually go between 30-40k

Hi thanks for reply, the lambda sensors have probably never been changed and its on 80K. I will get them changed and see how i go on. The plugs where changed about 13 thousand miles ago with genuine ones. Might these need changing again? how long should they last for? Thanks
