I do think I know the answer to this one?
"I've just left this Monaro for dead!" is the comment down the "youth club"
You know the scenario little johnny in his "souped" up corsa just has to get past you at all costs! Come hell or high water!
I just look at them with a shake of my head, as they wring the necks off their sewing machines doing dangerous overtakes.
Does anyone else experiance this mentality?

Yeah, happens loads up here.. just idiots in their clios and corsa's who think they know how to drive.
Had one idiot in london wanting to have a race in his nice new amg slk jobby. Can't remember what it was now, but it ended up in all little bits and pieces. It is a game only the stupid play. If I have to prove to every shit box out there that I can sweep them away, then that gets pretty boring very quickly.

Remember heading home one night on a dual carriageway with a good number of roundabouts on it and having a lad in Seat Leon Cupra R with a daft loud exhaust on trying his luck, the challenge I set myself was how slow can I drive just to keep up, coming off roundabouts in 4th gear at 1k rpm seeing if could manage to keep pace was a good challenge.
Got to the final roundabout and going different ways he basically came to a stop in the outside lane to force me to pass him just so he could see what car hed managed to keep behind him, I know he will have told his mates he destroyed a red car hed never seen before or knew what it was so I was happy

i experience this all to often and i just basically sit there and let them go for it. as there is no point. plus the last lad in his s
te box of a saxo almost took my front end off.. they did upset me slightly.. but i let him go and caught up with him much later to see him go... WTF how did you get her so quick..

I've only had the one and it did take me by suprise. I just passed gently by this guy in his brand new 911 carrera s and then came to some lights. He pulled up along side. I glanced over and thought he won't bother so I didn't get ready. Lights change and he is off, I react late and manage to match him albeit about 2 car lengths behind.
Now you are thinking why didn't I get ready and assume he would go for it.
Well if you watch top gear they would say he looked like a typical TVR owner ( I mean this in a nice way).
He was at least 65 yrs old and he had a beard.
Blimey, you don't know who you can trust these days.

It's pretty fun, that's why.
Although I never seem to get anyone try it on? Only in the first couple of weeks where I had a 996 GT3 challenge me!
I guess it's only a sporty Focus after all, and anyone in something expensive won't bother because they can't be arsed and anyone in a hot hatch won't bother because they'll think they won't win!
Will see how it goes when/if I get the Monaro.

Get it all the time up here, I get people comin up sayin "ere let's have a race cos I got me a new air filter for me saxo, it's well quick I beat an evo last week" as said before almost certainly parked up ha, the situation I had was when one absolute plank nearly took my front end of on a round about in a vxr astra I pull up next to him where he proceeds to say " anyone can drive fast in a straight line" eh you just nearly f@!kin killed me on a roundabout tit. Rant over
In the summer we got swarmed by a bunch of chavs in polo's, civic's and corsa's on the M25, about 15 of them, all over the shop, inside mostly. We was in the motorhome and so I managed to, lets say disperse them by just putting the left indicator on for a moment, muppets, never seen a gap appear so quick. went on for about 20 miles, was quite funny though.
well only the other day i was in the north goin to pick up an evo engine and in the distance there i thought was a porsche so caught up to it and no it was bmw z4 breton think thats it m series and we had a play well he played with me later i found out. when he took 4 cars and a corner approaching didnt even bother havin a go that thing just took of...couldnt believe the power some car...
