Look what I found in my drawers (oh matron). I had it in the mid eighties and it saw active service in a few African places along with all the usual rufty-tufty army stuff like diving, parachuting, rock climbing etc as you can see. It was never off my wrist. It's been stopped now for probably fifteen years. So....is it worth getting it refurbed - how much would that be (if at all possible) and where is the best place to get it done? It may be an ex-watch that has ceased to exist, but if I can get my old companion ticking again for old times sake that'd be cool.

...or is this the wabi that broke the camels back?

Mr Ninja, I herebye revoke your membership of the Watches forum based on your commonsense - that has no place in here.

Yes - that'll be the next step but is there any Seiko refurb experts out there I should know about? (Although I actually quite like the dings on it - it's part of its history I suppose).

- The back has a serial of 7a28 7040 as a model number btw

Ohhh, you want the wabi removed? There are plenty of refurbishers - look on TZ-UK for recommendations.

Steady on, it's got a story to tell.

I'd be tempted to just leave it, unless the crystal is that bad you can't see through it.

Watch with a story is much more interesting IMHO (says he with lots of watches with no story, lol).

Maybe just a new crystal - or get that polished up if not too deep, would look good.

Well, after a bit of research it looks like (and this is from the Internet so I stand to be corrected) the movement was the first quartz chronograph and is jewelled (15). I think I need to get it running, replace the crystal (it doesn't show too well in the pics but it really is crazed), tidy the bracelet, replace the seals and leave the banged up bezel to tell it's story.
