On at 9pm tonight on More4

:TV Guide:
When Boris Met Dave
Docudrama examining the origins of Boris Johnson and David Cameron's friendship at Eton and Oxford during the 80s. Contemporaries, political commentators and personal biographers reminiscence about the lighter moments in the formative years of the most powerful conservative politicians in the country. Anthony Head narrates
:/TV Guide:

I have been seeing the adverts for this over the last couple of days and reading the synopsis I can't decide if this is going to be an attack (i.e. Labor supporter) or Defense (Conservative) of the Mayor and Cameron.

As it's on Channel 4, added to the fact that proles seemingly only want to hear bad news and scandal, I'm going for "hatchet job".

The fact that it mentions "Eton and Oxford" means it will inevitably be a 'toff bashing' affair.

Most in the meejah are lefties so it'll be toff-bashing and trying to make them look silly. It's a damn good job we're not all judged on what we did or didn't do in our late teens and twenties.

What complete and utter tripe, some interesting interviews ruined with the "historical re-inactment" no doubt designed purely and simpley to cast a shadow on the conservatives.

Viewer numbers typically about 300,000

Guardian circulation typically about 300,000

Possibly significant overlap tonight.

PH could have done the channel a favour.

Strangely yes..... hehe

Must admit, I'm quite enjoying the program, easy viewing with the odd twist of humour, and actually portraying these people as the human people they are.

"If you took an English Sheep dog, and injected it with human hormones....that is Boris Johnson"

I thought it came down quite favourably on Boris and Dave. If taken with a reasonably large pinch of salt, it almost humanised the pair.

Just finished watching it. As someone with a rather middle of the road political viewpoint - I'd say Boris came out quite well - DC a little less so. The comment about the Bullingdon Club members smashing people's stuff up and then throwing money at them, reflected badly on them though.

In an interview which was quoted on PH some while ago, socialist students claimed it was OK to steal from richer students / well-off people on the basis that it was a form of redistribution of wealth. So, hopefully if rich student burglars make a call and find little of worth, they might leave something valuable behind.

Rich students are definitely in a class of their own.

Don't suppose anyone knows the song 47 minutes into the program? I keep listening to it over and over on 4OD but can't hear enough of the lyrics to google it.
