Have I been had?
Discussion
Returned to the car after a shopping trip today and, as it has a dodgy battery, it didn't start. I have one of those yellow emergency things in the boot so I go round and connect it.
While I'm connecting it up, I hear a female voice asking if I can help her. I look up and reply that I'm a bit stuck myself just at the moment but - turns key - it starts. Right, what's her problem? She says her car's run out of petrol, and she hates asking for help and because I have a nice car it must look as if she picked me out specially. Haven't they got any money? No. Any breakdown cover? No, but she came into town with her grandfather (points to old man sitting on a bollard 50 yards away) to collect a prescription (interestingly she uses the familiar term 'scrip') and somebody's gone to get a jerry can... The old chap is still sitting on the bollard. It may be true, it may not. She rabbits on about how it must look so bad as I have an expensive-looking car; I reasssure her it's very high mileage and I buy clothes in Matalan. I can't think of anything practical to help her plight so dig in my pocket, pull out £2 and hand it to her. She doesn't seem particularly grateful, so I tell her she can buy a litre of petrol which should get her home. She thanks me and goes off to the old man. I sit and watch to see if they go round any more shoppers, but no, she takes him by the arm and they walk fairly slowly out of the car park.
Just wondered if it was a known scam technique...?

Similar thing happened to me.
Over the last month I became a victim of a clever 'Eastern European' scam whilst out shopping. I simply dropped into Sainsbury's in Kettering for a bit of lunchtime shopping and it turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.
Here's how the scam works:
Two seriously good-looking voluptuous 20-21-year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start cleaning your windscreen. Their large firm young breasts are almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It's impossible not to look especially with all the cold weather we have been having.
When you thank them and offer them a tip, they'll say 'No' and instead ask you for a lift to another store, in my case, Tesco in Northampton. You agree and they both get in the back seat. On the way, they start undressing and both get completely naked. Then, when you pull over to remonstrate, one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over your lap, kissing you, touching you intimately and thrusting her boobs in your face, while the other one steals your wallet!
I was unfortunate enough to have my wallet stolen on February 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, and 29th. Also on March 1st, twice on the 4th, three times yesterday in Corby and very likely again at the weekend.
So Be Warned!
P.S. Tesco have wallets on sale for £1.99 each, but Lidl's are £1.75 and look better.

Someone has to ask. Was she fit?
No, definitely a benefits type, fortyish and rather 'lived in'. Either totally honest, or a professionally scrounger.V8mate said:

used to get asked for 'petrol money' all the time by the same guy who hung around the spar on oxford road manchester. i once asked him which car and he pointed to an M3 cab, had to laugh at that one.
in this case if you took your wallet out to help that would be the last you saw of it.

Hopefully you've helped someone, but from my experience I doubt it.
I had a woman knock on our front door at 5:30am, the light was on as I was up with our new-born. She looks smart enough and says she guessed we must be up feeding as she was doing the same, but her electric metre has run out and she doesn't have any money or a cash card and needs to heat milk for the baby.
She lives at number such-and-such and will return it later on
She caught me off guard to be fair, as I should have just offered to heat the milk, but I gave her a couple of quid and never saw her again.
I reckon she needed it more than me anyway
