Hi,

I recently started at Sheffield Hallam, and decided to bring my car as I'm contracting at weekends. Last weekend I didn't work and I am in need to go for a spin!

Can anyone recommend me any roads which I can throw my car about?

I know there's Snake Pass but its usually rammed.

Hi to all the Yorkshire folk, Sheffield is an amazing city so far!

Thanks

Ross

yes

Head west. Turn around if you end up in Manchester.

Ross - I went to Hallam uni too, finished last year.

Was great to be able to leave my flat down eccy road in my GTi-6 and be in top hooning country in minutes...

As said head west out the city. Take the roads out towards Hathersage, either the A625 or up Ringinlow road. You can either continue Westerly, heading towards The dams then snake pass -lots of narrow, winding roads to enjoy round all the villages, and you can also head South ,towards Chatsworth, Bakewell, Chesterfield etc.

Get a map out and draw some routes on, jsut follow your nose.

And also make sure you take in the 'magic' owlerbar roundabout on your way home - which is rather fun.

Say Hello in the Midlands too - a lot of them are not too far away and I use to meet up with them for a drive every so often round Chesterfield way.

Hi Andy wavey Haven't forgotten about your request. Replacing the water pump on it right now.

Anyway, anywhere in the Peaks really. From North Yorks all the way down to Stoke, it's all one big playground.

Heading out from Chesterfield towards Matlock, try the smaller roads. From Bakewell out towards Leek is quite good as well.
Nice chippy in Longnor. smile

As said head out down eccy road then there are loads of good roads out past Bakewell.

Some of may favourites are A5270 through Chelmorton and the B5055 through Monyash, but there are loads more that zigzag that area.

The key to snakepass is going early morning or late at night.

I find all roads leading out of Sheffield are great, it's just the ones in it that are crap.

Go for sum brekkie at Grindleford Cafe aswell, follow the signs for Grindleford station, it's over the road. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had, perfect way to finish off a morning blast.

I went to Hallam and loved it - I lived in Greenhill for a while and found that if you head out towards Totley way, the roads open up quite nicely smile

Get an Ordnance Survey map and seek out the yellow roads.

Muchly good out up Ringinglow road. Nobody obeys the 40 over Burbage. Deep joy....smile

Edit...

Beware sheep, they are hard...and stupid
