Hi all, I am looking into where to go for my stag do next year, I was planning Le Mans, but one of my mates is a pussy and couldn't handle the travelling involved(driving)

SO, I am thinking of somewhere a little different to Prague or Amsterdam.

I had a look on the net and found Riga, it sounds good, but you never know what to believe as the people rating it are the same people that are selling you the holiday!!

Also thought about Tallinn??

Anyone been and can tell me the truth?

Been to both a few years ago, with the O/H at the time.
Both great fun, Riga is much larger and geared towards a stag weekend (sadly, IMHO).

If in Riga, check out the Pupu lounge...

Oh, and buy a 'in your pocket' guide when you get there.

I went on s atg weekend to riga a couple of years ago.

It was very good but the police etc are really really clamping down on stag partys over there at the moment.

Any dodgy behavious is not smiled upon.

Nice place though.

We booked it as a package through chillisauce.

Any questions let me know.

I went to Riga three years ago and it was great. Heard the same story about clampdown on stag tourism over the past couple of years. Too cold to go to the beach now but it was a good day trip in the summer.

Went their last year for a stag do, was one of the most memorable weekends of my life.

I had just left a club and needed the loo, with no other choice I walked round a corner into an alley and relieved myself on the wall. When I finshed and went to walk back round 6 bouncers came running round the corner shouting and all, they claimed I'd pissed all over their cars and were making a huge fuss, they're scary guys... so I decided to leg it but one of them tripped me up. They dragged me back into the club with my mates kicking up a storm outside. They sat me down and smacked me about a bit and asked where I was from, I said France for some reason and they seemed to act kind of confused, they then took the 40 odd lats I had in my wallet off me and booted me out telling me to never return. Probably the scariest moment in my life.

I got back to the hotel thinking I at least had the best nights story, turns out one of the other lads had been chased and shot with an air rifle....

Of course we both caught a cab to the nearest strip club and cheered ourselves up.

Awesome place, but DO NOT fk about like you would in the UK, they don't like the English coming over and causing trouble.

Is a great place for a stag though, sex capital of the world. If you book it through a company they sort everything out, we had limo's, go karting, our own table in a strip club with 10 girls, private shows and VIP club entry.

Was awesome!

I also managed to pass out 3 times in the aisle of the plane home due to dehydration...

drink

You'll love it.

Been to both, didn't rate Riga at all.

Consider Vilnius [lithuania]. I did a trip to Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus and Vilnius was by far the highlight. Much better looking city that Riga with equally good [and plentiful] bars and amenities. Just without all the hordes of pissed up scallies at every turn and the danger of being marched to a cashpoint by the strip club bouncer.

Been to Riga lots of times, in summer & winter. I would really advise NOT to go on a stag there – as any group more than 4 will get nothing but grief. Great place just to go for a long weekend with a couple of mates though. I always book locals apartment, lot less hassle than hotels; you can come and go as you please, bring home whoever you like……..you might struggle with a big group though, I did managed to get 2 separate apartments sleeping 8 the last time I went.

Personally I couldn’t imagine anything worse than going on a “Stag” with a big group of pissed up stupid Brits like myself, to some foreign city where your name is dirt already. All wearing matching T-Shirts with the grooms mug on and seeing who can drink themselves into a stupor fastest and who can act like the biggest . There is nothing that you can’t do on a 24hr bender in London, especially when you consider all the hassle when going abroad of getting there (valuable drinking time lost..), dealing with the locals, bouncers, Police etc…

Still, each to their own I guess. Whatever you do, DO NOT urinate/pose naked over anything that looks even remotely like some kind of national monument – you will be arrested, you will enter a very dark place, you will have a very unpleasant time…..

We have a group of six guys who go away on the piss once a year and without doubt Riga was the worst trip we have done. There is no customer service, unsmiling staff everywhere and a good chance of a beating or swindling round every corner. The food being kind is average to poor and its the only city I have visited where the city guide mag. list a reasonable list of places NOT to visit and the reasons why.Prague or LasVegas are much better bets.

Agree with the above comments. We went with a group of twelve on a stag about 3 years ago and found most of the people very unfriendly towards us. Lots of people trying to rip you off as well. Best avoided for a stag do I reckon.
