Looking for comments please - has anyone been to Banff for early season skiing in Mid Dec? What is the snow usually like? How cold is it? is it expensive to eat out?

All comments appreciated!

Thanks

Steve

Don't know yet, but I'll find out the week after next! I've heard it's been deep in snow for some weeks though, and the weather forecast was frightening (in terms of temperature at least ... some days it gets up to a maximum of -20C ... so I'm guessing you don't get a lot of snow melting and re-freezing!)

Supposed to be a great haven for powder.

I live in Alberta. The snow conditions will be perfect. As we speak the whole of Southern Alberta is in a snow storm. The temperatures for next week are forecasted to be -28C overnight, highs of -17C during the day, may be a little warmer in the mountains. Dress in layers, it is the wind that makes you cold, not necessarily the temperatures. If all else fails, skiing the lounge can be fun too!! Banff is hard to beat when it comes to beauty!! Anything else you need to know just ask.

The above quote is so true right now. Was hoping to get one last drive out to Banff with one of our Tivs but after the storm we have some snow drifts around our house that are taller than our cars. Had a friend up in the Banff area last week and they said they had excellent conditions for this time of year. Once you have experienced your winter ski trip to the Banff area and seen the beauty there, you will be wanting to come back for the sights of the other seasons and use Europe for your skiing trips. Hope you enjoy your vacation.
