Did anyone see this last night?

I've never watched this programme before, but what a thoroughly nice chap (Dominic List) he came across as.

Not only that, it was life affirming to see how some kids had defied the odds and turned from a life of crime and gang activity to become altruistic members of society.

I can recommend watching this on 4OD as an antidote to the next daily mail piss boiler about benefits that someone posts.

Yep, it was a great show.

Some of those kids were fantastic (as for the fellow running the club, I'd have given him 10k to splash on himself as well), be interesting to see if they make into F1/F2 mechanics as well.

And Mr List also seemed to actually give a s**t, and used his money, and his company's resources well I thought.

Am I the only one that thinks this show is a little distasteful?

Was it a repeat? He seemed a bit familiar.

Top guy though, you could tell he was out of his element just 3 miles down the road from his house.

...I think don't think its in bad taste at all (the strategically placed company logos in the background are quite comical though!).

But it's for charidee, so its got to be good,no?

I'm torn on this, as I think its an interesting take on philanthropism, and, should I be in a position to make a similar gesture, I'd enjoy the chance to take a look from that side before making the cheque out. I wouldn't have a camera crew with me, and I think that's where the cringeworthy element comes into it.

I would agree with you there up to a point - the format can be a little cringe worthy at times and they're not very secret are they? Having said that, I stand by what I said, all in the programme did come across very well.

It's hard because he probably wouldn't have donated what he did had he not been involved in the show and given the chance to see first hand what/who he was helping; so in that respect it works. You are right though it could be produced with a little more class at times.

What's your particular issue with it?

Care to expand your thinking? No you're not the only one. After I watched the first one I thought the idea was to pull at the viewers' heartstrings. But then it just confuses me and I almost view it as some sort of sycophantic reality show with a heart.

Don't get me wrong. If only there was a more altruistic pervasiveness in the world and a more viable spread of wealth between the haves and have nots then maybe these sorts of programmes would not exist but unfortunately that's not how life usually pans out.

Eh...

The Benefit System is the ultimate redistributor of wealth you can have.

I just find shows like this cringeworthy...

Look at how generous i am....

Look at how poor these people are lets pity them...

did anybody see the one with Emma Harrison, she moved into her rented 'home' and 5 mins later an old lady knocked on her door with a cake, the old lady just happened to work for a charity that was in danger of going under and when EH went to 'help out' the old lady went to the length of saying, 'do you know any millionaires?'

Played? I think so......

Ive always thought this, everyone must know what it is. Id feel extremely patronised, but would probably go along with it for the cash!

"I've got something to tell you.... I'm a millionare"

If that is the case they could do a show where people do that, drop hints about being a millionaire but actually don't have a pot to p*ss in, I'll do the opener as I fit that bill nicely.

Not according to The Times:

"List was born and brought up in rural Shropshire, one of four children"

Apart from the fact you used 'Good' & 'Stoke' in the same sentence.

Does anyone know if he owns any nice cars? He mentioned he has a good knowledge of cars and obviously has a good income. I missed the beginning of the show.
