Some bastido just tried to use my debit card details to make a purchase. luckily it flagged up some incorrect details or what ever and the bank stoped it.
So now I've got to wait for a new card to arrive 5 - 7 days and will need ID to make withdrawals and so on.

I'd be happy that the bank flagged it up before you got money raped rather than complaining about having to use ID to get your money..which is still there...

They didn’t ask for all sorts of interesting details to confirm they were talking to the real account holder did they?

Things like your pin number, last three digits on the back, and the sort of thing that would help a fraudster?

Fraudsters phone up pretending to be your bank, get you to ‘confirm some details to prove the card is still in your possession’ then use them to empty your account.

i am with the halifax. last year i bought a business. i did not have a business account in place. so i purchased stock to the value of around £40k . my normal spend on that card/account would never usually be over a few hundred. the bank never flagged the unusual activity on my account. much of it was online too

No. I was expecting that at first.
To be honest It's reassuring that they picked it up. A few years ago Someone managed to spend a couple of grand from my credit card. The card company very kindle upped my credit limit when he went over the top.
That took months to get sorted out.

This is why I don't use my debit card for anything but withdrawing cash. Everything goes on CC, and if it happens then it's their problem to sort out.
