I've got a Z3 rack to go on my track car when it undergoes an M3 running gear transplant. I figured I may as well fit new tie rods whilst it's in bits. Having a look on GSF they list 2 different tie rods, part numbers B48077 or B48078. Does anyone know what the difference is and which ones I'd need for a Z3 rack on an M3?

Thanks.

Is that left and right?

edit lol-
B48077-TIE ROD-LH
B48078-TIE ROD-RH

Anyway, you're better off going for the e36 ones

Odd, the GSF "search" engine lists them as Z3 parts, but their catalogue has that part for all e36 tie rods.

Add a B on the end to get the better ones, one of each will do

The GSF kit might have both tie and track rod, last time i bought some, they came as an inner and outer set, and they don't seem to list the track rod (track being the end of the rack, and tie being under the hub)

Do those Ebay ones not have the tie and track rod ends in the picture then?

That's just the outers.
I can't guarantee that GSF is both bits, but this is the other half

you'll notice that people are free to make up names for these parts, tie rod, track rod etc.

you'll get to see pics here

Pah, this is ending up more complicated and expensive than I first thought. I think I'll wait and see what condition the stuff that comes off the old racks is like - between the 325 and M3 racks there's bound to be a couple of decent tie and track rod ends.

I'm curious to hear how you get on with the Z3 rack. I read a posting somewhere that it's actually about the same as the rest of the E36 racks but has fewer turns lock to lock because of travel limiters put in place due to the Z3's shorter wheelbase when compared to the saloon/coupe/tourer.

The 4cyl Z3 rack is the quick one (if i got that right)
There is rack limiters that were fitted to any E36 that came with 17's as they'd rub the inner arch.
