Speed trap caught man 10 times in six weeks

A businessman was banned from driving for a year yesterday after being caught speeding by the same camera 10 times in a six-week period.
Robert Chamberlain, 56, a garage owner, was also fined £900 and given 32 penalty points on his licence, after his Jaguar was caught doing speeds of between 40 and 43mph in a 30mph zone in Exeter, Devon. Exeter magistrates were told that he received nine summonses through the post on the same morning.
Chamberlain, of Clyst St George, near Exeter, admitted nine speeding offences in July and August last year.
He also picked up a fixed penalty ticket in a different car during the same period, which he had paid.
Robert Jacobs, defending, said Chamberlain ran garages that were positioned in such a way that he had to drive past the camera six or seven times a day.
"He received nine summonses for the nine offences on the same day. In the normal course of events he would have received one earlier and that would have given him a warning and a chance to change his behaviour."

Anyone got more details on this. I'd be fascinated to know if the trap was of the hidden trained monkey up a tree variety or a fixed gatso location.

The defence statement that, "he had to drive past the camera six or seven times a day" is suggestive of a fixed camera - Streaky

Again, if it was a trafpol who'd ticketed him, he'd have "learnt his lesson" (*) the first time and would never hae generated the extra 9 lots of revenue.
Who says its not about the money?
(*) the lesson being: be more careful on this stretch of road

According to the local rag, the camera in question is a fixed one. I know where it is is - been there for ages, not hidden or anything. Since the guy's local, there's really no excuse in my opinion (and I hate the damn things)and it sounds like he's really not very observant at all...
According to the report, local plod said his personalised plate might have delayed finding his address details and contrbuted to all the letters arriving on the same day!

Well thats a load of b
s isn't it, the DVLC has a record of whatever your registration number is, it does not matter if it is a personalised plate or not. The report also said he triggered it 9 times on one day. IMHO he deserves a big fine for being unobservant and probably needs some training in awareness but not a ban.
