new tyres

hi everyone
need 4 new tyres for my elise s2 k series. do i need to get bridgestone potenza re 040 which are the current ones or can i get away with getting a cheaper set that will do a good job on the road?
also where is the best place to get a set of tyres off the net

Fit Yokohoma Advan AD07 as these are the best for every day use. Unfortunately they are only available through the Dealer network and cost about £450 per set!

dont even think of fitting cheap tyres, as you may regret it as you as going backwards through a hedge!

just on this......my frotn tyres need to be replaced and I would prefer to get Advans rather than Bridgestones - but the back ones only have a coupel of thousand miles under their belt - any issues with having new yokos on the front and bridgestones on the back?

Yes,dont mix them what ever you do.Just get some more Bridgys on the front.

Still not recommended though. Imagine your Elise having a grippier front end than back as you go downhill into a bend in the wet and need to suddenly brake hard????

I should of said it was my rears first and then the fronts so probably didn't upset balance too much. Would agree the other way around could be dodgy.

Most S1 owners cope.

Edit: fit the new fronts, drive cautiously then book a driver training session to finish off the rears.
