my car idle is too low

as the title says my idle is really low. 500rpm. the exhuast is blowing and is being sorted next wednesday and the idle seems to be gettin worse. is this due to the exhuast. does anyone no how i can adjust the idle.

Think I have seen on here before that you shouldnt attempt to adjust the idle, send yellowshed a message

First thing it to get the butterfly cleaned. I did this and the revs picked up. If this doesn't work then you could adjust the idle but the throttle position sensor seeting in the map will need re-calibrating.

A couple of weeks ago I got the little pop when turning on the ignition that on the 3R's as cracked the plastic hosuing. This seemed to give the butterfly a bit of a clean as the revs there on had risen but about 100. so just adjusted idle. (2.5 has a cast manifold so not cracking).

Dunno Bondy I regret ever having had my butterfly cleaned at a service. It changed the "startup from cold" characteristics for ever by idling higher for longer. Not a problem as Trevor-the-Yellowshed checked the map and all was fine but preferred the factory delivered behaviour.

i suggest you open the throttle stop and check how many percent is reading on the tps

where are you based - i can do it for you if you are not to far away

That would be great. I'm in the Hampshire area. I'm not great on engine parts. But can't leave this how it is as keeps stalling

another one in Hampshire, you coming to Sunday Service at Rolls Royce?

My idle is adjusted by an idle control valve and I can play with cold start as my ECU is not STD. :-)

I use Rewox in Portsmouth but the 3 cars they use are using after Market ECUs.

The MBE software is available on line for fault finding but you can't change anything.

I may be there depending if I can sort my idle problem out as it keeps stallin at traffic lights and roundbouts.

i have adjusted the the throttle stop screw to bring revs up slightly. once exhuast is sorted on wednesday i will adjust back. i take this wont damage anything. but after last night when it stalled on a roundabout and some1 nearly plowed into the side of me i had to do somthing.

when you put the aircon on - do the revs pick up ?

there is a device fitted to the 2.5's that increases the revs when the aircon is on
