I am in the throws of upgrading my Disco 2 to a 2006 Range Rover Vogue TD6 (Yes I know all about the V8 vs TD6 !! ) I know Auxiliary Heating was an option. What I need to know is if it is really worth having (I do lots of ski trips in the car) and can it be retro fitted, and at what cost. I have read that on the RRS and D3 they both have a fuel burning heater as standard fit as the engine efficiency is so good (not mpg)that they do not create enough heat for a standard heater matrix. I have found an ideal car but it doesn't have this option and I do like toys :-)

Cheers

I've a D3 & the FBH is there to warm up the engine when air temp is 5C or lower, however it can be fitted with a timer to fire it up & circulate heated water through the engine & heater matrix.

Given the RRS has the same engine then the same mod should also be possible; you could even go one better & fit a GSM module that fires it up when it receives a text from you.

Different engine - you have the TD V6 in the Disco3, a Jag/Ford engine, the Rangie had the TD6 which is a straight six.

I had the aux heat in my 03 TD6 Vogue, i was under the impression it was standard fit, as for is it worth it, in the winter it is about as good as it gets. You can set it manually with the remote fob or set it to come on at a certain time of day, twice infact.
