R32/Milltek exhaust help
Discussion
Hi all
Need some advice please. Bought and R32 Mk 4. It has a Milltek non res back box and tips but even on the ramp it's hard to tell if it has any other Milltek bits.
It sounds excellent but has a very slight blow at one of the clamps and I can't decide if it's this that's making it a bit wheezy/flat spotty or the Milltek and map not matching.
Anyway, I'm getting it remapped on sat and we'll see how that goes.
Anyone with similar experience or any advice.
Last three cars before this have been an E46 M3 at a mapped 360bhp, DB7 V12 Vantage 420 bhp, and 996 targa 320 bhp, to this car and I really like it. Just something about it that's fun.

You've downgraded a bit! Hope the R is enough for you - strap a supercharger to it if it still doesn't feel pokey enough for you...
Where are you getting it remapped? If it's somewhere half decent (APS, AmD, BBT) they should be able to check if the stock map has the 6463 update from VW. The original VW map had a flat spot at 2800 rpm. Another cause of lack of power could be a duff MAF sensor. Again, your remapper should be able to diagnose it, especially if it is being done on a rolling road.
Milltek also had a reputation for supplying crappy mild steel clamps with their exhausts which were prone to corrosion.
Sorry, I have no idea how to tell if any other Milltek bits have been fitted. Talk to the remapper.

All good.
Re map is fantastic - chap I used on my M3 - Simon from eMaps. Couldn't recommend hightly enough. Was here for 3 hrs as the map on the car wasn't stock which explains why it was crap. We were able to see what had been done and it was pitiful.
All good and car is transformed. Ok, stil not an Aston V12 but very happy as a runaround and has allowed us to expand our Caterham business.

Glad it worked out ok.
Do take it to a VAG specialist tuner if you want to do more to it. I don't know of any in your area but Awesome GTI nr Manchester come highly recommended. http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/
Hmm. Like your website - I'd like to get in touch in the spring & come and hire a Caterham off you for a day or two.
