Today I drove about 50 miles and then when stopping at a roundabout, put into neutral and raised the clutch. Then the gearbox made a clunking/grinding noise and the revs dropped. For the next two miles every time I stopped the same would happen and some times the gear stick would be stuck in neutral unless I dipped the clutch again. Left for four hours and drove home, still the same. When moving all seems well in all gears/speeds, the gear change is ok and and the clutch pedal feels ok (the bite is a little high but its been like that since I've owned it,18 months). Has any one had similar symptoms and how big was the bill. This is on a 5.7 VXR with 26000 miles. Thanks in advance for any help.

Any news on this? Sounds not dissimilar to the issues I had yesterday - yet to be diagnosed.

Popped into local gearbox repairer today, they said it could be the duel mass fly wheel. They said to use it some more as its intermittent and bring back when it gets worse.

I think it has a DMF but have never heard if causing problems.
