This has been on film4 this week , I haven't seen it yet and was thinking of giving it a go later on tonight.

To those who have seen it , is it a good film ?

Cracking film, I can watch it over and over again!

Great performance from Nicholson (as usual) and Di-caprio, and Wahlburg, even Damon..

Its a good film, with plenty of twists, and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

8.5/10 on IMDB, so you know its decent.

If something on there is in the top 100 films of all time (this is 50) then its good.

Hate to sound like a fan boy, but if you enjoy asian cinema check out Infernal Affairs, the movie on which the departed is based - it's one of the best exports to Hollywood that there's been.

I have to agree with Mike. I watched Infernal Affairs before I saw The Departed and thought that The Departed was poor in comparison. Infernal Affairs is a truly fabulous film. The second one is just as good, if not better.

Great film, definitely worth the time yes

I also love Shipping into Boston by the Dropkick Murphy's (was used as a background score in the film)

I thought it was awesome. I even bought it on blue ray. One of those long films that don't feel long. Well worth a watch.

Tonight has been really strange TV movie wise.

The following films were on terrestrial and freeview, not including film channels:

Titanic
The departed
Matrix revolutions
Casino Royale
Kill bill

That's quite a few quality big name films on tonight.

If GoodFellas is on (or even Scarface), have to watch them. But, I watched the Departed and found it instantly forgettable - to the point that, until seeing this thread, I had forgot I had watched it.
One watch was enough for me, the film fell flat, and disappointed - for me, at least.
