hi , a friend has bought a mustang and on inspection the vin number does not match the log book .

it seems to be a genuine mistake by the dvla when imported a few years ago.

the vin number is exactly the same other than there are three no 8 in it which have all been printed as no 0 on the log book in the same sequence.

any idea which is the best way to handle this problem ????

hi just inform the dvla the will ask you to bring the vehicle to inspect it or they might just ask you to send the log book i am always having the same problem with them.

Sounds like it needs to go to VOSA for a VIC (Vehicle Identification Check)..

Or just send it in and ask them to correct it. I had a Mustang that was missing the last 2 numbers of the VIN on the V5. They just sent back a new one. (After 3 telephone calls to ask them where it was).
