Dodgy Subect, Altering The Mileage On Clocks??
Discussion
Bear with me on this one and dont worry im not trying to 'clock' my car or anything along those lines!
Ive been offered some different coloured clocks which look alot better than the standard all black ones, however they have a lot more miles on than what my car does, naturally I dont want to put them in and make my car look as though its done much higher miles.
The question being is it possible at all to alter the miles on the clocks ive been offered to match the mileage on my car and put them in?

Haha cheers, I dont move in those circles and have always kept well clear for a number of reasons.
Dont get me wrong I know some rather dodgy ppl that 'probably' have the stuff to clock most cars, the last thing im wanting to do is go to one of them and ask can you get the software for a monaro which im guessing they probably dont have, if the wrong or right ppl find out depending how you look at it theres not many ppl in my area that work in the trade that have a monaro, not many as in just me.
Didnt know if anyone may have known how to do it on here as would have liked the clocks, if not will pass on the idea as they have nearly 4 times the mileage on that my car has.
Hi.
My brother was a business man with a very high mileage Jag. He wanted to clock it, as it was a mechanical type counter, before selling it on. He paid several hundreds of pounds for a new dash, wound it forward to a few thousand mile less than what he had done with his battery drill, and fitted it feeling very pleased with himself. Only... when he put the key in and turned the ignition on, the ECU knew what mileage the car had done and wound the dash counter on to what it was before. D'oh. He felt silly and broke.

Lol good story that!
What colour clock faces are you going for? JHP's faces are metric (KM/h only) iirc. Also, HSV coupe clusters (if you were thinking that way) are set up differently from UK/US versions. The 'new' cluster you've been offered would need to be programmed to match your VIN so that a tamper flag warning doesn't come up. Also, the mileage could be verified and done at the same time. Just thought I'd throw my experience into the debate.

thats factually incorrect, it either had an electronic odo or a mechanical type. if it was the mechanical type then it couldnt have been wound on by the ecu - if it was electronic it couldnt have been wound back with a drill. end of - made up story. My brother was a business man with a very high mileage Jag. The GTO face is the same as Vauxhall's (same measurement and MPH/KMH light), only thing that *might* not be on the face is the icon for the rear foglight but that won't affect the light it's self. Some GTO clock faces had them, some didn't. Just be careful with the needles if you decide to swap the face only. They can come apart when levering off the spindle. But if you've got a spare set (which you will) it's not something to really worry about. Thanks for the advice, they are out of a GTO if that makes any difference?
