Hi Guys,
One of my cats had kittens today, wasnt the easiest of processes. 1st one came along at 02:00 shortly followed by number 2 and then nothing for a couple of hours and we had already been told by the vet that there was at least 4.
So off to the emergency vet, one ultrasound later and find out that one kitten had died inside and there where still another 1 to come but it seemed fine. She ended up having a injection to help the process along and out came number 3 sadly this is the one had died. Then number 4. So she had 3 healthly kittens and she is doing well.
Just was after some advice on looking after the kittens anything specific to do. We got the mum when she was 9 weeks old, but havent had to deal with newborn kittens before.
We have found homes for the 3 kittens with friends and family but how long do we need to keep them with the mum? 6-8 weeks?

8weeks at a minimum, 12weeks is better as you can start to give them solid food and ideally have them weened before them going to their new homes.
Mum should be able to take care of most of their needs, just try and keep their bedding and surrounding area clear of their deposits as leaving them lying around too long can cause the kittens health problems.

Father thing depends, the father of my cats kittens was around and caused no problems.
There's not much you need to do tbh, make sure they are all feeding, one of mine didn't and I had to bottle feed him.
The mother will do everything, make them a nice little nest area somewhere warm, a cardboard box some old blankets etc, though the mom will choose where she wants them to be so you might want to put the sheets etc wherever they are atm to make it comfortable for them, with a food and water bowl nearby.
