Gaz Gold Pro's- getting the best out of them
Discussion
I've read on hear that some who have fitted them to Tuscans say it has transformed the handling/ride however I have had some pro fitted with geo. set up to my Griff recently and am disappointed with the improvement. The shocks I believe have 20 stops for adjustment and have been set to 8 (from the softest) all round but later I set the fronts to 10.
The problem is the car pitches/wallows and tramlines on roads with bumps and adverse cambers and is difficult to drive fast with any confidence. Is there something wrong with my set up or is it the chassis limitations.
Anybody fitted any to a Griff, please help
Going in for service this week and I'm having the rear upper wishbone bushes replaced as I know thet are worn. The front end has recent new upper ones.

try 12 all round from soft thats what mine are on but i have stiffer springs you may need to go slightly higherThe problem is the car pitches/wallows and tramlines on roads with bumps and adverse cambers and is difficult to drive fast with any confidence. I had them fitted recently to my griff; went with the advised settings which were something like 3 or 4 at the rear and 5/6 at the front. Had the same experience as the OP, wallowing, bouncing out of dips and so on, now I am at 7 front and rear. All settings from soft. Strangely though I have only 14 clicks max available on the damper settings.
Personally it feels much better, but it is a compromise; ride comfort suffers a bit on rough roads but for spirited driving much more confidence inspiring as car is a lot more hunkered down.
Just experiment with different settings, there are no hard and fast rules, As Spitfire said:it's what suits you.

Yep I had the same, set them up at the suggested settings and I was bouncing around and understeering everywhere.
Since I have had TH Works do the geo set up, stopped the rear trying to push the car right and stiffened it up.
Personally I find them under damped on the rebound and the adjustment not all that good. Having said that, they were considerably cheaper than the Nitrons. If I was tracking the car I would go with Nitrons any day. But they are almost twice the price.

I understood there were 20 settings for the shocks but have not counted them. The TVR inde. who fitted them set the fronts to 12 (13 when I recounted) and the rear to 8. I could feel every grain in the road surface so far too hard for road use, at least for me. The car went to a second indie to have the front springs changed as the original ones proved to be defective. They also corrected the geo.(the first indie setting the front tracking out by a factor of 10 giving severe tramlining, amongst several errors). So now I'm confused, 8 all round does not seem optimum, 10 on the front makes little difference. So which way should I to adjust. If my memory is correct the front springs are 400lb.
