Any one got any thoughts on this topic, am running straight thro's at the mo with no joining pipe, I've heard the X Pipe gives a more high pitched bumble bee sound whereas the H Pipe gives a more old school muscle car rumble. is one better than the other and is any of them really required?

Was talking to a tuner yesterday who said the X pipe is the better choice as balances the power better, the H can give a better sound but for a power and delivery point of view the X has all the better stats.

Only what I was told mind

Sounds about the same as what I've been reading, H pipe works at low revs, 3K ish and gives the better sound whereas the X Pipe provides better flow higher in the rev band and some power gains.

Is the power increase really much different 0-60?What's the price difference between them and why not just get a custom job done?

H-Pipe is more to do with utilising the opposite banks negative pulse to assist with scavenging the other.

If it wasn't an advantage I doubt HSV would put one in.

X-Pipe. There are variants from a "kiss" pipe (like an H-pipe) to a full diameter crossover as with the magna flows. The latter I think, in effect, is the end point for the secondary pipes, (and instigates the negative pulse wave), the position of which affects exhaust tuning.

If you haven't got one, do some research, as I think you may get (a small)advantage with one installed. I assume you have LT headers?
