51 plate A6 TDi, o/s headlight is out.

Only had a chance to have a quick look under the bonnet, but it looks like you've got to remove half the plastic tubes under the bonnet.

Looks like a freakin' nightmare to change, should I try ripping it all apart, or just drop into a main dealers?

Or better - try Halfords for the entertainment value?

No idea what it's like for the 51 plate A6, but on my 05 plate it was a nightmare!

The drivers side requires you to remove the entire airbox assembly, top and bottom, and the passenger side requires you to squeeze you arm in to a gap that's smaller than your arm, when I had finished I looked as though I was self harming! hehe

There were many swear words that day. I can still feel the pain.

If hellfrauds will do it for a fiver, then I would say that would be worth it.

That sounds about the same then - there is a very solid plastic pipe running behind the light to its inlet in the grill. Looked over it with a guy at work last friday - both just looked, thought for a moment, and then said "no freakin' way".

A newer A6 can be a struggle, but a 51 plate shouldnt be difficult! You dont even need to take the air induction pipes off from memory, just remove the back access cover from the headlight.

Should take 5 mins max, cant see what the trouble is.

The air duct from the front of the car to the air filter is only held in by two screws. Undo them pop it out of the air filter, then plastic cover off the back of the lamp and your in there. As posted above its the current shape A6 that have the bulbs that require half the car to be removed.
