Yes people, it does sometimes happen. 2nd gear full throttle got things going, but it was the cam change that really sealed the deal. She swore a bit afterwards and admitted that it took a while to "fully recover", but I now have a beautiful girl to share my passion with.

So, don't sell your lotuses guys - unless to buy another one. The decision could ruin your life!

Girls HATE the S1 Exige..... Can't get into it, can't get out of it, it cooks you, it's too noisy to have a conversation, it has no radio, it takes ten minutes to do up the harnesses and it stinks like petrol..... they don't see the point smile

It goes better with just you in it.

Is it wrong that I like petite women because they're less detrimental to my power/weight ratio? wink

My girlfriend has an injured shoulder at the moment (well it's been injured for 14 years but it's particularly bad at the moment - she's seeing an osteopath and having acupuncture). This is making enjoying the Exige together a *real* problem. Every time we go out for a drive, I'll obviously want to drive the Lotus, and Becky doesn't object because she likes being seen in it too. But I simply can't drive the thing without trying to have fun, and fun to me means CORNERS.

Exiges can corner hard enough to put strain on a fully fit neck and shoulders, let alone a knackered middle-aged girl's inflamed torn muscles. As a result we've had blazing rows every time she's been in the car with me recently.

This is a bummer since whilst I can just go out for drives on my own, if we're actually going somewhere together then it's an exercise in pure frustration.

Seeing exactly how *perfectly* smooth you can drive, avoiding all pot holes *well* in advance, never using the brake by anticipating all other traffic, etc. is fun to do ONCE. After that, I just want to drive fast. frown

I suppose I could get her one of the HANS things the racers wear and strap it to the seat so her shoulder doesn't take the weight of her head? hehe

(oh, and on topic, I've never pulled in any of the 'nice' cars I've owned. Been too busy driving them than to use them as seduction accessories - what do you do? Say 'I'm a member of SELOC' on a speed-dating evening? (guaranteed results, apparently hehe ) Cruise around town on Saturday night with the windows down and roof off (Elise types) to show off your availability?? hehe The few times I've had girls / ladies / women comment on my sports cars, it's *always* been 'that is filthy. Why don't you polish it?' Every time. Perhaps they have a point...)

I bought a 100% unmodified S1 and a lass came running up to me in a car park and started flirting away, wanting me to take her out etc.

Why not? Opened the door, she noticed the Pioneer radio/cassette and said:

'F**k me, it has a cassette player?? No way am I being seen in that!!'

And so ended that relationship.......

I was once In a petrol station in the exige the missus was there too but in her car. She's at the pump next to me filling her car up and I'm putting some in mine. A Clio pulls in with 4 girls in, early 20's all fit. The driver gets out and starts chatting to me as she fills up the other 3 start wondering around the lotus and generally be fairly flirty.

The gf face was a picture I thought it was going to be hand bags at dawn.

My missus says the acceleration makes her feel sick since the Duratec went in.

Oh well.

Wait until you start tracking it and she begins to whine about the amount of time you spend with it, how much time it spends have 'stuff' done to it... and that's before the bills.

I actually really like the fact that whilst my Mrs loves sportscars and has no objection to me having one, she has no interest whatsoever in doing trackdays. Suits me fine, because that gives me the perfect excuse to meet up with old mates, get hammered, have a curry, and drive round in circles all day.

Been there, done that, jettisoned the girlfriend.

rofl She never reads PH, I'm safe smile She's only just learnt that web forums exist a couple of months ago... joined her first one for a bit of support going through IVF and now she's checking it regularly. Can't see her deciding to check Pistonheads out at all though. And she'd have to know I was 'cyberface' smile

Mine's like that too. I've tried persuading her to just come along and maybe have a go with a pro instructor talking her round, but she just won't. She's happy catching big oversteer in the Growler when it's wet and she's used too much toe, but is simply st scared of the idea of hooning round a track. She'd probably be half decent and definitely safe, but the highlight for her watching motorsport with me is when the cars spin off the circuit or crash... rolleyes so perhaps she thinks that's the 'done thing' when driving on race tracks? hehe

But as you say, perhaps it wouldn't be as fun if our ladies all took part... apart from the potential humiliations at stake, there's the fact that it's still an activity where a bunch of petrolhead lads can act like boys again with more expensive, faster toys - without any need to live up to the other halfs' expectations of a mature adult male (as if I do this anyway... hehe )

Frankly for Mrs S Works is more to do with the fact that after few laps I think she'd be bored stiff. The thought of subjecting her to the general banter which goes on at LoT day lunchtimes and between-session coffee chats makes me shiver. I like talking b*ll*cks about brake pads, the last thing I want to do is have a bored Mrs to look after! wink
