SL550?

I know that MB only used that model number in the US, but you know what I mean.

SL with the "new" 5.5 4 valve engine

Are there any horror stories on this engine?

Should I bother paying extra for a 5.5 or save some money and "just" get a 5.0?

Any real world experience gratefully received

It is significantly more powerful: 388bhp against 306bhp. The torque difference is not so great. Consumption supposedly is the same or better but I suspect if you make use of the power the new engine may use slighty more fuel.

If it were me, I would want the newer engine.
