BBC1 Now.

Yes it looks great (and I'm on SD) and yes it's very interesting, those monkeys were great and the dolphins too but stop over using the slow-mo it just looks like an ad for a HD TV.

Whats wrong with the slow-mo stuff?

The flying fish were pretty good!

I didn't think it was as good as previous series (eg Planet Earth) though hopefully it will get better throughout the series.

I agree, looked amazing even in SD but it just didn't grab me like Blue Planet did.

Really enjoyed this.. Even got the gf interested so it can't have been that bad.
Although not as good as planet earth on blu-ray which imho is a masterpiece and great to watch in hi def.

Thought that was fairly brilliant. Planet Earth was really a level above anything that's been filmed before about wildlife and I think this will live up to it.

As the opening episode it was a bit of an overview, so rather general, but I imagine some of the others may be a bit more focussed. Anyway the quality of the footage is fantastic as well as the behaviour so I know I'll watch the whole lot avidly.

I agree the footage is amazing as always from the BBC Bristol lot, but it didn't catch my imagination as previous series (not just Planet Earth, but Blue Planet and Nature's Great Events). Hopefully though being the index to the series it will be a lot better next week.

I liked it. Life finding a way (Didn't Dr Alan Grant say that in Jurassic Park?.........)

Animals doing things you don't expect them to be doing, or changing their natural habits, Dolphins herding fish using mud (smoke), Frogs using nursery pools in plants, Cheetahs hunting in groups to take down bigger prey, monkeys using tools and more.

Next week : A water skiing baboon and a Tiger that has solved cold fusion.

I'd seen the frog footage (or very similar) in 'Life in Cold Blood'

Which i'm now downloading. That was an awesome series. Anyone recommend any others? smile

SOOOOOO boring. Ended up forward winding a lot of it. Would have been better if it had been dolphins, cheatas, frog, whales, hippos (with less slow mo), monkeys and stick a shark in somewhere. Picture stunning....but once you've seen one water dropplet you've seen 'em all.
