So just having a chat with another PH'er about the above subject...

I am here in my room, and I can see my breath (maybe because its a double aspect room = lots of windows), but we have ruled its not going on yet, as a household..Partly because we managed to run up a £600 bill for winter last year..However under my tog13 duvet cold is almost irrelevant biggrin

So when do you put your heating on?

Yep,

When I'm cold... the joy of living without the ex, heating turned from 23C to 12C plus a jumper... and then only comes on in november ish... saves a fortune.. (at last 150 last year)...

have nice gas fire (or will do when gasman fixes the flue friday) to turn on when visitors come, or crank up the heating if have friends (or laydees) staying - real passionkiller that ;-)

Simes.

Well it won't be for a while here. Today it was 95 F, same for the rest of the week. (I am in Florida, USA). We are setting record heat temps.....I so badly want it to cool down.

Heating timer is on all year. Programmable stat set to 18 from 5am-6am & 3pm-9.30pm, then 16 the rest of the time. It's just started clicking in the last week or so. Then we have the wood-burner for the lounge. Find this keeps the house cooler, but the lounge warmer.

This, sans wood burner.

I'm assuming people still need hot water in the summer.

having just been debited by EDF £250.00 and not received a bill and not having used heating for at least 8 months, I am thinking... "never"

This week. The nights are getting annoyingly cold, despite the nice weather we've been having...and I hate the cold. smile

The heating in my house tends to get fired up when it's cold. Has been on a couple of times over the last few weeks

when it gets cold obviously. not had it on yet, reckon i can get to november without it. last winter's bill was £130 for the quarter and my usual gas bill is £90ish so not bad at all.

as you would guess, no OH/kids to play with the thermostat.

1st Dec - we are tough up in tut North...Got to admit to lighting the fire and burning a fair bit of wood - although that is free compared with the gas bill

Heating is on all year with stat set at 21. If it gets colder than 21 it comes on, I never make a conscious effort to switch it on and off. I think it started kicking in about 3 weeks ago in the evenings, its now definately on every morning.

Went on last week, set to 22. Only after work and weekends, no point warming the house for the 20minutes I'm in the house between waking up and leaving for work.
