New airport scanners

How much longer before people just stop using airports for non-essential travel? Being treated like a terrorist really doesn't set you up well for your holiday.

Metal detectors and other scanning equipment just offer a false sense of security to the general public and give them that feeling of "safety" when infact your never safe, its just that these incidents are so few and far between that most of our safety is shear blind luck.

We only make the power supply for such x-ray systems, and they are £5k each selling to the manufacturer!

Since male security guards can't pat down female passengers, will only female security staff be able to view female passengers? Will heavily-covered religious types be exempt for modesty reasons? Are parents happy that their kids will also be walking through?

As I've said before. It is totally possible to make a high explosive into a fabric. This crap will do nothing. It's only a matter of time before the chaps start using old chemistry books to make explosives, wiki the chemical name and go "wow" at the properties.

You want pH neutral, non-volatile, non-reactive, odour free, insoluble, etc, etc high explosive? It is totally doable and anyone pedalling this "security" is merely acting in a selfish and highly (ignorant) profitable way.

I've given this a lot of thought and I'm virtually certain I could get a couple of Kg of this stuff onto an aeroplane with no problem. I could also make it in my shed. It would not be that much of a step to get it made into a viable fabric.

All my opinion.

Well considering searches I have had by some female security guards at airports, I would much prefer this option. If some security guard gets all hot and bother over what appears to be a very fuzzy image - then good luck to them, I won't know about it and don't really care

Well, you know how we get the occassional thread about people 'knocking one off in the bogs'? These posts are normally from otherwise intelligent office workers without access to pictures of naked people.

Now imagine the actions of knuckleheads with access to pictures of every woman on a flight, naked. Sweaty and lopsided, they'd be in the bogs every half an hour! Mercifully you don't normally have to shake their hand.

Abdullah Hassan al-Asiri detonated an explosive device concealed in his rectum in an attack in Jeddah. The trigger device was activated by a mobile phone.

Internal bombs are not that effective as the body itself is a very good shock insulator, but it would have the desired effect in an aeroplane in flight. Such devices will not be detected by this scanner.
