Inflation 1.1%..? ......My arse

Heard, this morning, inflation is down to 1.1%.

Not so very long ago, I bought a can of soup from Mtr Tesco for 34p.

Yesterday, that very same can was 56p.

I make that + 65.7%.

Ok, so what do people think should be in an "inflation basket"? IMO the basic rate should be made up of things you have to buy each month, so:

• Mortgage/rental payments.
• Domestic utilities.
• Petrol/diesel/public transport fares.
• Groceries.
• Telephone charges (difficult one with all the deals available).
• Council tax (although it's meant to be driven by inflation).

It shouldn't include luxury items or "one off" purchases (TVs, sofas, holidays, cars)
