V8 Supercars Middle-East - Onboard Video + Engine Explodes

Thought i'd post these vids on here for Monaro Fans. The cars in these video are Chevy Luminas which are just Monaro's VXR8s with a different name. The Championship runs in the Middle-East between Nov and April, the first race for these cars in as support to the Abu Dhabi F1 GP.

I just got back from the first official test days for this years Championship. The old cars (2007/2008) are now running in a Class B (only change is now running on slicks) and there are brand new Class A cars for this season. The Class A cars have LS6 engines, Sequential gearboxes and slick tyres.

OK, they are not quite up to Aussie V8 spec but a big jump from the older car ... and they sound awesome.

I put some onboard videos up on Youtube and also a video of one the Class A cars grenading it's engine in a ball of flames on the start finish straight.

The real cars won't be there this year but are going to be there twice next year. Bahrain and Abu Dhabi on consecutive weekends.

Yes, I still do some Racing School work and work for the school there. I was in Bahrain when we picked the cars and shipped them over, we picked the bext 8 from the pack after the support race for the 2008 Bahrain F1 GP. The cars you see at Rockingham are 100% as they cam from the last race in Bahrain with the exception of a brake pedals and cutout switch for the instructor .. would you sit next to the average joe driver in a 400bhp car, with no traction control or ABS in the wet!! me neither but we rarely need to use them. They are not restricted in any other way, providing you are not trying to defy the laws of physics you will be allowed to explore the full potential of the car.

I dont have any commercial involvement with them, I just work as an instructor for them from time tp time. They are really fab, about £100 from memory and worth every penny. It's about the only full-on, hardcore race car you can just turn up and drive in the UK.

It's not really driver training though, they are gift or experience days, we do try and get across some basic technique but in 20 mins very little is possible other than give you the best experience we can and keep the car in one piece and out of the gravel.
