Car will not fire up

I have a Chim 4.6.
I parked it up and all was fine. Went out to it a few days later and although the engine turns over it will not start.
I checked the plugs and they are dry after several attempts, so I looked at the fuel relays and decided to replace them as one was a bit corroded.
I can hear the fuel pump priming and there is petrol in the fuel injector rail.
The alarm, if it was still armed, would not allow it to turn over so I reckon that is OK.
Loads of Petrol in the tank.
I even tried the fuel cut off switch in the passenger footwell.
Any suggestions, other than join the RAC for a home start, which I reckon I will end up doing!

Sound like the ECU is not powered up/dead and therefore not firing the injectors. Worth sticking a scope on the injectoirs to see if there is any pulsees from the ecu. Could be the immobilser not powering up the ECU (seperate circuit to everything else). Could be bad connection on the ECU plug.

I do not have access to any nice bits of kit other than spanners, screwdrivers etc so testing is awkward.
Could I replace the ECU, or is this a job for the garage?

er..not trying to be funny here,but have you checked your fuses?no.12 on my griff is the e.c.u. fuse-just thought it was worth mentioning-cheers,mv

Thanks for that...I will try anything rather than spending the £350 for a new chip, and I haven't looked at the fuses so now I will.

Yes it is. I thought I was very clever and had fixed it!

I'm guessing here, but I assume you've got a replacement/remapped/piggybacked ECU as you've got a 4.0 uprated to a 4.6.. (haven't you ?) if so, is there some warranty with the engine work as it is possible there is a problem with the ECU setup here..!?

Good point. I have taken your advise and posed that question to the garage. I am awaiting a reply. The work was carried out @ 2 years ago but the chip may still be under warranty.

There is of course the "your starter motor is on the way out, they all do that eventually sir!"

Had a similar problem lately. It turned out that the engine was flooded. Take the sparks out and let the starter run in order to get rid of the fuel in the engine. After that let the sparks dry. Maybe this helps! Remember, plug out every other thing who could overheat because of that.
