The average price of a cerb has come down £2460 in 12 months is this good or bad?

It seems bad but compared to other classic car marques maybe not so bad at all.

If anyone wants to argue with the figures I'd be more than happy to cut and paste facts as well as pages from last years PH classifieds.

Have you compared like with like?I would imagine the later cars dropped more that earlier cars. Do you have the same spread of car ages etc in your analysis ? That drop seems v low compared to most other marques.

My fuel bill alone, makes that tiny bit of depreciation negligible

As our cars get older the chassis rot problem has got to have an effect on the value as repairs range from £1500 to £5000 depending on how bad it is and how it's repaired.

Once most have been done then prices will improve (especially if a galvanised replacement/service exchange becomes available).

I bought my old car (a very early 1996 car) in 2002, with about 30k miles on the clock. I paid £13k for it.

I ran it for 2 years, put nearly 20k miles on it and sold it for....

£12,500 (I think, it could have been £250 either way).

The bloke who bought it off me sold it on after 2 months for £12,000.

The chap who bought it has spent a pile of cash respraying it and generally tidying the car up and was going to sell it to me for...

£12,000, which it is worth, but not to me.. However if he did advertise it I am sure someone would have it off him at that money as it is a really stunning car.

What does that tell us not much but gives me an excuse to post a picture!
