Ive had 1 for 2 years now and love the car.
First thing I did was fit new vanos bolts.
Dont rev it above 3000 rpm until its warmed up properly.
Dont expect more than 25mpg.
Watch the back end in the wet when giving it some coming out of corners..
Join the z3 m coupe forum.
Enjoy the car they can be suprisingly quick when you want it to be.

as above.

however if yours is an early one than the vanos bolts are mega important i would have that done straight away!!

also i've found the boot lock fails, first check the back of the locking mechanism as the rod can come off, all bmw will want to do is fit a new lock but this is not often needed.

before long you'll find out that these little gems can scare many a supercar owner!!

It wont cost much I did mine myself the parts are only a few quid borrow a torque wrench its pretty easy to do.
A good indy would do it in less than a hour .
Change the vanos filter at the same time they are a few quid also.

I'm also thinking about an MC as a quick, usable sportscar. Can any owners put some actual figures down for annual running costs? How often do they need servicing and how much would that roughly cost? Any tips on what to look for would also be great. I intend to do about 5k a year.

It really is all in the posts on z3mcoupe.com. I researched there for a few weeks in advance of buying and continue to find answers there now.

I think the shell change is for S54s only and that's a recall that BMW issued on the S54 E46 M3s, but for some reason didn't issue it on the S54 Z3Ms. The problem effects both cars (Cyl 3 I think) and is quite well documented over on Z3MCoupe.com. Search for a user called Exdos on that forum - his recent experience clearly documents all you need to know.

IIRC BMW issued a recall for the Vanos bolts on S50-engined MCs, so you wouldn't need to buy them?

They need changing regularly to be on the safe side.

could you not just order some decent spec titanium from tasty nuts or pro bolt to get it done with once and for all?

Hello folks,

The Z3 M Coupe is getting a mention on the investment cars thread on General Gassing and I was asking the question of how many were made / are still available in RHD.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... car as an investment?

Anyone know?
