my rear window stitching needs some attention and therefore the hood has to come off the car. presumably you release the two bolts at the base of the hinged bar and the bolts at the base of the rear part of the hood. how does the material then remove from the bar?--martin

You dont. The bar and the frame that is bolted to the back of the car is removed in one go.

sorry i realise that, but surely the material can be removed from the frame to aid restitching, or is this done with it still on the frame?
also can anyone recommend someone in the milton keynes area to do the job.

Hi Martin, I know of a place in wheathampstead that recover the Targa part so would probably be able to do the sticthing in the rear window.

The problem is that it is glued to the frame and pulling it off will usually damage it (tears/stretching etc) so you end up paying for a new roof.

Mine's currently in at David Batty (near Guildford), i'll update this thread once I get it back.

Apparently you have to peel the hood away from the bar, which as Steve says can be tricky. You also need to mark exactly where it came from in order to get the tension correct when you refit.
