Funny how I've never seen any of my Sikh neighbours wearing such a dagger and indeed, the Sikh who was in my year at school all the way from kindergarten to 6th year never wore one either.
My former Sikh Neighbour wore one to school, but can't remember how big it was. However I think we should just ignore these kinds of people, they are just attention seekers and you get them in every walk of life.
Some of the comments on the Mail make me laugh though. I don't think they read that the boy is Sikh and just assumed it was something to do with Muslims.

I've worked with a couple of Sikh's who wore them, normaly tucked away out of view. maybe a compromise is in order, let hime wear the dagger but have the blade made out of rubber, everybodys a winner

I'm thinking about stating my religion is "ninja" ..
I get to cover my face and wave a sword about.
Don't discriminate! It's my religious right!
I think the OP will agree.
Well, I often see female ninjas in the Southall area. Who knows if they are carrying swords under their black dresses.I get to cover my face and wave a sword about.
