I was listening to Chris Moyles (I know, I know but it makes me laugh and that's important) on the radio this morning, and they were on the street asking people what venison is. Only 2 out of 6 people knew the answer, and what animal it came from. Had a supplementary been "..and name three clubs where he played in the first team" then I could understand, but surely to God more than 30% of the people know what venison is?

It's a bit like when Scott Mills (that makes me laugh too) goes onto the aptly named 'Stupid Street' - still can't find it on Google maps - and asks questions like:

'Who is the greatest singer of all time?'. IIRC the answers included Britney Spears (amongst a list that was so poor that she could probably have held her head up in), which just had me open-mouthed in disbelief.

Are the people of Britain really that monghole-spasticated, or is it all in the edit?

*yes it is spelled ritards before I get dogs' abuse. Think about it this way... If you were to shorten the word for snappier abuse, as in, 'What sort of rit are you?' then 'ret' or 'reet' doesn't have the same sort of punchy appeal. Hence ritard is a much better spelling of the full word than the more conventional retard and I shall brook no further dissent on the subject.

I think what gave rise to the question was even worse ie aled not getting the joke 'i bought 8 legs of venison for £300, Is that two dear?'

Although the joke itself was crap.

That makes me laugh too. "What would you wear to a Greek themed fancy dress party?"

"Errrr an awkward suit and a different hat"

I was listening to Stupid Street the other night and some spleen when asked what he thought the greatest album of all time was came back with 'Girls Aloud Greatest Hits'. Fail.

IIRC when asked about the greatest book ever written someone said 'Jordan's book' - presumably autobiography?!?!

I was expecting this to be about the Jeremy Vine show.

Serious question. Is there a footballer called Venison or am I missing a really obvious joke? I know nothing about football.

All in the edit.

Makes it more interesting - you've just posted it here, for example smile

I caught a program on TV last night.
The question to the great unwashed was "Where does leather come from"
One woman actually laughed in derision when her boyfriend said "cows".
A good two dozen people didn't know.
Now they may have asked a thousand to find the 12 but still, how the hell do you no know that?

Aled is totally detached from the real world and has very little knowledge of anything even slightly beyond Celebrity. Heaven knows why he was picked to present that Sunday Surgery show. And no I don’t listen to it.

He's the fall guy for the show. Moyles - straight guy. Everyone else but mainly Aled - fall guys.

Its an old and basic principal of comedy.

He plays the part but hes producing the biggest radio show in the world (alledgedly - hell if it isnt, 8million is still quite big) so he clearly isnt stupid.

He is Welsh and gay though. So was assured of a BBC job.
