The chicane after the pit exit.
Why the f
k are they using that? The track carries on down there, a tight corner after a long straight with a wide entry. Surely that would be good for overtaking? Nah, sling a chicane in there.

Pitlane is very cool but perhaps overdeveloped, and very likely to cause an accident...it is very wide in the tunnel though so should be fine.
Agree with 644 about that chicane, it shouldn't be there, just seems to be there to make a headline figure of how many corners the track has. Who knows, they may not run that configuration and just miss it out?
The pit-straight is also far too short and with a fast corner at the end of it allows no real overtaking chance.
The whole place is very spectacular and will make a good F1 race, just has a few niggles as above. These newly developed tracks seem to be nowhere near as good as the old ones though. The kids on youtube are making it out to be a bit worse than it is though.

It also has that same dark black, sickly smooth tarmac that seems familiar from Bahrain and Valencia. Must be something in the aggregate?

Bahrain used welsh stone in the tarmac for its track. I remember the TGP boys going out and saying it was so abrasive that the slicks were coming back in looking like treaded tyres. Another thought, where was the pit-lane limiter line for the exit? as in how quickly will they be going through that tunnel? I would guess the limiter will be off before that as it is a long way it seems...
Not down yet obviously, no grid lines on the pit-straight either. I doubt they take long to do though so its probably last on the list once they know all the tarmac can take the heat etc.
It does not look very exciting at all. Lets hope JB can rap things up this weekend then they can all go for it without the Championship to worry about.
I also hate the low hanging buildings, bridges and scaffold hordings. They are an accident waiting to happen if a car goes airbourne. What I mean is a bad accident could become really bad if anyone hit these areas....

te weather and air quality all summer - the track is way cleaner than I thought it would be. The dust here is unreal.
