My Local Rag

Found this a little strange

"sorry we don't allow your new motorhome as a large number of Hobbys are owned by travelling people".

We can but hope for more of this sort of thing. Then the scourge of the motorhome/caravan on our roads will be but a distant memory if no bugger will let them in.

People on campsites always either look like travellers or Crimean War veterans

You know I find this odd. I'm a traveller. I travel a lot. To and from work and my house, for example. I travel on holiday. I travel when I work. We are all "Travellers" in a sense.

So we need to draw a distinction between Travellers (all of us) and pikey scrotes.

Simply booking a campsite for the night is enough to distinguish that family of perfect ordinary, decent people and pikey scrotes.

What an odd campsite.

£58k for a Fiat van with some plastic windows and a formica table! eek

Doesn't he realise he could've got a TVR and lots of nights in a decent hotel? And he wouldn't have to drag the bloody kids along to be bored in an Aberdeenshire field either while everyone pretends not to notice when you have to go into a cupboard to sh!t in a bucket! nuts

Unfortunately many Pikeys drive newer and better motors than many of us, so the price of the thing has little or nothing to do with it. The local ones to me have brand new Golf's, Shoguns and a couple of new Range Rovers (not those Sport models either)!

A £58k motorhome might just as well be a traveler anyway!

Fifty eight fking grand!!!

It's not even like they've got a massive house either. Fifty eight grand on a depreciating asset. Some people need their heads looking at

Dogs are associated with travelling people but you don't see people getting turned away at Crufts

Look, my wife is Irish, we have a RRS S/c on Norn Iron plates and tow a twin axle 'van around in the summer.

Pikeys we ain't! And we don't hold up traffic either as a number of PHers will confirm.

Le Mans is thoroughly civilised these days!

I was thrown and confused to be honest. We left in tears, with Beth under the impression that the holiday was cancelled. The kids were really looking forward to picensoreding in the swimming pool.

I wish they'd stop calling them "travelling people" as I do prefer "pikeys" or "gypos". A "travelling person" is such a broad and ambiguous label that could apply to anyone on holiday. It just completely lacks description.

People on here have cars that are worth more, you can have a holiday in a caravan.

Well you can certainly live in one in a field for a week. Whether or not that counts as a holiday depends on whether you are blessed with zero imagination and zero ambition or not! biggrin

A very fair observation smile
