The headlights on our car are pulsing on tickover and our dealer recons that the alternator is faulty and needs to be sent back to the factory,
has anyone had this problem with their car? cause i was lookin to try and fix it myself has anybody attempted to do this?

My lights do this as well, but not very noticeably. They always have done so I’m not worrying about it. I’ve never had any flat battery problems so I presume my alternator is OK. I suppose it depends on how much they are “pulsing” – mine are more like “mildly flickering”.

Easy check to do is to measure the voltage and check with dealer what it should be. That may give you a good indication of its condition. Generally, if the car starts and the battery appears ok, then it sounds like its working fine.

Thanks guys,

Do any of you know if the alternator is from a current or earlier vehicle i.e: ford, vauxhall etc...
or does anyone have a part number for the alternator?

Cheers

Does the alternator not have the 100 amp fuse like a Cerbra? If so it could be that it has fractured as they do on Cerbras giving the symptoms of a failing alternator.
