Brush cutter head for jcb strimmer

okay so i have inherited a 'JCB' strimmer for 'The Estate'.
Now it has a typically s
t wire stty strimmer head on it. i am sure these things serve some sort of purpose for someone somewhere but they strike me as rubbish..! 
so what i want is a brush cutter head. are these things generic - i.e. can i just pop in to b&q and buy one and switch it over... or are they model or brand specific..?
